A trial date was set Wednesday morning in Christian Circuit Court for 21-year old Tyrese Hollowell, the man charged with the August 14 shooting death of 39-year old Tiffany Hinton Gray on East First Street.
Defense attorney Doug Moore told Judge John Atkins that it’s appearing less likely that he and the Commonwealth will reach a plea agreement and asked to schedule a jury trial.
Judge Atkins scheduled trial for October 25.
Hollowell is also charged with first-degree assault in connection with the shooting that also sent 17-year old Kanina Willingham to a Nashville hospital with severe injuries.

Proceedings were continued Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court for Alan Barnett, the man charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed Jared Yoder in August, as negotiations about a possible resolution continue.
Defense attorney James Greene requested the continuance, saying they continue to work with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office to possibly resolve the case and need more time to go over offers. Circuit Judge Andrew Self set another pretrial hearing for April 14, saying if it’s not resolved at that time they will set it for trial.
Barnett is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a death or serious injury after he allegedly had been headed north in the 13000 block of Madisonville Road about 5:40 a.m. on August 19 and struck a bicycle ridden by the 20-year old Yoder.
The court proceeded with final sentencing Wednesday. As previously reported, The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife investigated the October 18 incident on McKinney Road and determined Julian Newton had been hunting from his vehicle parked along the edge of a field at about 6:30 on that evening.
At the same time, Charles Newton and his wife were on an ATV trying to observe a deer crossing a power line clearing. The pair saw Julian Newton in the motor vehicle.
Julian Newton reportedly told investigators that he thought the couple had left the area before he saw what he thought was a deer and fired his muzzleloader. Charles Newton was struck in the head and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Christian County coroner.

A Christian Circuit Court judge has set a hearing for next week to set a trial date after a special prosecutor for the commonwealth filed a motion to withdraw the motion to dismiss the perjury charge against retired Hopkinsville Police Lieutenant Jefferson Alexander.
Alexander was indicted in March 2019 for first-degree perjury for allegedly providing false testimony to a Christian County grand jury in 2012 in the case of former city councilwoman Ann Cherry. She was charged with official misconduct, tampering with a witness, and tampering with a public record. As part of a plea agreement, Cherry resigned from her council seat.
