Wildlife officer shot in line of duty, expected to be OK

Outdoornews December 21, 2020 Martinsville, Ohio  In a still evolving and fluid matter, three southwest Ohio individuals have been arrested in connection to the alleged shooting of Ohio Division of Wildlife commissioned officer Kevin Behr. The Clinton County (Ohio) Sheriff’s Office said the incident is alleged to have occurred about 4 p.m., (Sunday), Dec. 20. This was the last day of Ohio’s two-day, so-called “bonus” statewide firearms hunting season. Following is the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office media release on the incident. More details are expected, perhaps by Monday, Dec. 21. The release reads: “On Dec. 20, 2020, at approximately 4 p.m. the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Communication Center advising that a Wildlife Officer had been shot and needed assistance.

By Newsroom Dec 21, 2020 An officer with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources was shot Sunday afternoon as he investigated a deer poaching incident. Wildlife Officer Kevin Behr was shot during the incident in the area of Macedonia Road and Martinsville Road. The Clinton County Sheriff s Office described the injury as serious yet non-life-threatening. Behr was hospitalized in stable condition as of Sunday night. Deputies along with other ODNR officers and the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the area. Three suspects were arrested. 49-year-old Brian Liming of Xenia was charged with Weapons Under Disability, No Deer Permit, and Hunting Without Permission.

ODNR officer shot in Clinton County while investigating poaching complaint and last updated 2020-12-21 10:52:26-05 MARTINSVILLE, Ohio — An Ohio Department of Natural Resources officer was shot while wildlife officers were investigating a deer poaching complaint near Macedonia Road and Martinsville Road around 4:00 p.m. Sunday evening, according to the Clinton County Sheriff s Office. Officials said Kevin Behr, a 25-year veteran of ODNR, was shot and airlifted from the scene. The Sheriff s Office said Behr s injuries, while serious, don t seem to be life threatening and he is currently stable. Police arrested three men, and charged them with poaching-related offenses including hunting without a license or permit and hunting without permission. One of the men was charged with having weapons while under disability.
