For 2021, however, it was virtual, since it does take months of planning for an in-person event. Once again, 3News Lynna Lai was honored to serve as a guest emcee. The annual celebration of Asian Pacific Islander heritage included cultural performances, cooking demonstrations and a tour of Cleveland s Asiatown neighborhood. Afterward, everyone was encouraged to head over there and support the local businesses and restaurants. I just like the food, the culture, the people are nice, nothing else matters, patron Merouane Sadji said. They have really good stuff, so that s the reason I come by.

The celebration will take place for about 90 minutes, featuring AsiaTown businesses through a virtual tour of the Cleveland neighborhood’s shopping centers and restaurants, according to a press release. Performances and health resources will also be featured in the streamed event. The event can be viewed online at the Cleveland Asian Festival’s YouTube and Facebook pages, and at clevelandasianfestival.org/2021. This year’s virtual Cleveland Asian Festival arrives after the 2020 event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
