GREENVILLE The Greenville University Board of Trustees has unanimously elected Dr. Suzanne Allison Davis as the university’s 13th president and first woman president. “It’s an honor to serve as president of Greenville University at this time,” she said. “As an alum, I was highly impacted by Greenville University both professionally and personally. I look forward to seeing the institution thrive into the future and make a positive impact on the community we serve.

Almost every country from New Zealand, as Reuters reported, to the United States of America (per Time) has witnessed their students protesting. And few protests can be described as ineffective. Even if the effects are gradual, student protests often find themselves changing the world more than they may realize at the time.

Tom McRae, who represented the 14th District, resigned Nov. 30 after being elected Circuit Clerk. Ray Wesley resigned his 6th District seat to serve as deputy circuit clerk. Chrissy Dutton-Wiley resigned Dec. 18 because she married and moved out of the district. Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler has recommended Valarie Doucleff for Wesley’s seat; Larry Meisenheimer to replace McRae; and Dana Brockman to fill Dutton-Wiley’s post. All three of the positions must be filled by Republicans. The meeting is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday and will be held via teleconference.
