Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives investigate shots fired during fight in Isla Vista
ISLA VISTA, Calif. - Detectives with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff s Office announced they are investigating the negligent discharge of a firearm in an Isla Vista neighborhood late Friday night.
They said it happened around 11:50 p.m. just days before the seventh anniversary of the 2014 Isla Vista Tragedy. Deputies were dispatched to the 6600 block of Sueño Road after receiving a call of gunshots heard in the area.
Upon arriving, deputies reported seeing a large group of people leaving the area. Crews requested assistance from a K9 Unit that helped search the area for a possible suspect. Unfortunately, no suspect was located.

During the past three weeks, Sheriff James Pohlmann said deputies have responded to three burglaries at two different schools in Chalmette. In each instance, April 21 and 27 and May 9, the burglaries happened after midnight and appear to involve the same suspects, according to Pohlmann. Pohlmann said video surveillance shows that the suspects are possibly mid-to-late teenagers. NEW ORLEANS Two teenagers were walking in Chalmette neighborhood late Saturday night when shots came from a nearby dark SUV, before it drove away, deputies said in a report.
Deputies were sent to the scene around 11:45 p.m. after reports of a shooting in the area, and when they got there, they found the first victim, 15, wounded by gunfire lying on the sidewalk. The second victim, 16, was found by deputies on Patricia street also.
