NS Corp lays out ambitious plan for NS Aerospace Valley

THE Negeri Sembilan state government has come up with a plan, spanning the next 25 years, to give its economy a shot in the arm. As a precursor to this, the state government launched in mid-December last year Invest NS Year 2021, but it gained little traction because of the pandemic. Datuk Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek, chairman of NS Corporation, the government agency responsible for the investment and economic affairs of Negeri Sembilan, sheds some light on the state’s ambitious plans. “We will finalise things soon. This is our economic blueprint. [The] Negeri Sembilan state government has prepared its own master plan for the entire development until 2045. The gross development, the targeted value that we plan for the whole thing, is about RM468 billion,” Mohamad Rafie tells The Edge in an exclusive interview.

HSR Project might be revisited when economy is more stable

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 (Bernama): The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project, which could have benefited property projects along its route, may be revisited by the government later, said CBRE | WTW group managing director Foo Gee Jen. He opined that when the local economy becomes more stable, the government might decide to reconsider the project, however, at the moment, the priority is on combating COVID-19 and sustaining economic growth. I believe there will be a negative impact due to the cancellation, but I believe we need to prioritise where we put our money, such as for growth and sustainability. My take on the HSR (project) is (that it is) not being called off, but temporarily being put on the back burner. Something for us to revisit when the economy allows for it,” he said during the virtual media briefing on the Asia Pacific Real Estate Market Outlook 2021 report today.

Study to boost the value of future rail network

MALAYSIA will embark on a detailed study this year to see how it can maximise economic and social returns should a decision be made to proceed with the building of a high speed rail (HSR) network in the country. According to MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd (MyHSR), the special purpose company to spearhead the project on the Malaysian side, the study is expected to take up to six months. If Malaysia decides to proceed with building a HSR network, it is possible to have as many as four new domestic HSR services, said MyHSR Corp chief executive Datuk Mohd Nur Ismal Kamal at a recent press briefing, following the lapse of a bilateral agreement signed with Singapore on Dec 13,2016 to have a cross border HSR service from Bandar Malaysia to Jurong East, Singapore.
