LoU inked to provide free international teaching certificates July 27, 2021 Rawalpindi:Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEI) Cantts/Garrisons Directorate and American Board for Certification of Teaching Excellence (ABCTE) Monday signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) to entertain FGEI faculty members for international teaching certification courses free of cost. The LoU was signed by Director FGEIs and ABCTE Vice President Iftikhar Qadir on behalf of FGEIs & ABCTE respectively. FGEI DG, Director School Affairs and other senior officials were also present at the occasion. The FGEI DG said the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has reshaped the whole world, changing social elements and obligations for educational organizations.

FGEI team to represent Pakistan in international competition Islamabad May 25, 2021 Rawalpindi:It is a matter of great honour and pride to have an opportunity to represent one’s country at international forums. This year, a team from Federal Government Educational Institutions (Cantt/ Garrison) will represent Pakistan in the Sri Aman Environmental and English Youth Leadership Summit (SAEYLS). SYELS serves as a platform to generate environmental awareness and inculcate leadership skills amongst youth from around the globe. A team comprising a teacher and four students from FG Degree College for Women Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi has been selected after a rigorous review. The team members will represent Pakistan at the 2nd Virtual Edition of the SAEYLS Competition from 3 to 5 August, 2021.

The government initiative aims to introduce a uniform basic core curriculum across the board for both private and public educational institutes as well as madrassas, under the banner of: One system of Education for all. The government assured that this would not lead to a de-standardised system. Yet not everyone is convinced. For Pakistan’s religious minorities, however, the matter remains an even more serious one, since there are concerns that the SNC may not be in accordance with Article 22 of the Constitution, which safeguards against the receiving of religious instruction at educational institutes if it relates to a religion other than one’s own. Yet, as of the last hearing on March 31, 2021 the Compliance Report on this very issue, submitted by the Ministry of Federal Education, was dismissed by the Supreme Court.
