Labor adds application options for pandemic unemployment checks By Steve Limtiaco The Guam Department of Labor’s online site to apply for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance has been updated to allow workers with special circumstances to state the reason they qualify for payment, according to the department. “The new options on the system covers workers who were laid off or had their hours reduced, but their employers remain open,” the labor department stated. “Workers who were denied PUA because they refused to work at a worksite that was unsafe due to COVID-19 because the employer failed to meet local safety standards is also a new qualifying criteria; as well as for certain workers who provide services to educational institutions who are out of work due to schedule volatility.”
