It was a sad day in Edo on Friday as two road accidents claimed 15 lives in Arue-Uromi and Agbede.
The Arue-Uromi accident reportedly claimed the lives of six children, four girls and two boys, said to be from one family.
One account of the incident said the children were crossing the road while another said they were playing football when an approaching Mercedes Benz car in an attempt to avoid a pothole, swerved and killed them.
It was learnt that the incident immediately provoked rage from residents of the area who blocked the road and burnt the Mercedes Benz car.

About eleven persons sustained varying degrees of injuries in an accident that occurred on New Year’s day at Ihiala, opposite St Anthony’s Catholic Church in Anambra State.
Tribune Online learnt that the accident involved six vehicles with fifty-two occupants.
The vehicles were identified as a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number AGB 268 ZT, Mark trailer with registration number GWA 456 YR, Toyota Hiace bus with registration number NEN 106 XQ, Acura MDX jeep with registration number NZM 764 LK, Macapolo luxury with registration number AKD 483 XF and Hyundai jeep with registration number EG 172 SMK. An eye witness told THE WHISTLER that the accident was a result of over-speeding.

Seventeen persons have been killed in a ghastly motor accident that occurred on Irepene Abuja/Lokoja highway in Kogi State.
The incident happened at about 5:00 hours on Tuesday.
It was reliably gathered that the accident was between a Toyota Hiace bus and a luxurious bus.
It was further learnt that 15 persons died on the spot of the incident while other passengers who sustained degrees of injuries were rushed to the hospital.
Unfortunately, two of the passengers who were rushed to the hospital later died.
The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp, Solomon Agure, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Tuesday.
