Again, petrol tanker explodes in Benue, houses razed

Barely 48 hours after a truck laden with petrol exploded at Oshigbudu in Agatu Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue state which claimed 12 lives and razed about 100 houses, cars and motorcycles, another petrol laden tanker early Tuesday exploded in the same community.
Though no casualty was recorded in the second incident, several houses were reportedly destroyed in the explosion.
The Agatu Counsel Secretary, Sunday Oteyi and indigene of Oshigbudu who confirmed the accident, said it occurred at about 4 am some metres away from where the earlier explosion took place.

The bus that crashed
A newly married man was among the five people that perished when a bus plunged into a river in Aponmu village, Akure South council area of Ondo State along Akure /Ondo highway, on Sunday.
The 18-seater bus marked Lagos AAA 859 XC in which they were travelling in from Lagos plunged into the Owena river, killing them instantly, while six others, including the bride were reportedly pulled out alive.
The crash which happened about 10kilometers to Akure, the state capital attracted a lot of sympathisers, who bewailed the sad development, while intense rescue operation was going on.

An 18-seater bus on Sunday plunged into the Owena River on the Akure Ondo road in Ondo State.
An eyewitness account stated that the driver of the bus who was coming from the Ondo town axis and heading toward Akure lost control as a result of speeding and plunged into the river.
The witness further revealed that five of the passengers including a child were rescued and taken to the hospital by motorists and men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
The witness added that some of the passengers lost their lives at the scene of the accident.
