Easter: FRSC apprehends 5,630 offenders, impounds 3,205 vehicles

By Ibironke Ariyo Abuja, April 9, 2021 The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said it covered 1, 575 routes, impounded 3,205 vehicles, and apprehended 5,630 offenders for committing 6,880 offences during the Easter special patrol from March 31 to April 7. The Corps also recorded a total of 103 road traffic crashes (RTC) as against a total of 200 in the same period in 2019 representing 14 per cent decrease. The Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO) Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Bisi Kazeem, said this in a statement made available to Naija247news on Friday in Abuja. Kazeem said the Corps also arraigned 87 offenders in mobile courts, convicted 79 with option of fines and sentenced one to prison, during the easter celebration.

Niger Restricts Movements of Motorcycles, Tricycles

By Laleye Dipo The Niger State Government has restricted the movement of motorcycles and tricycles in the state, a policy which took effect from Friday, April 10, 2021. The state government has also alerted other vehicle owners in the state that security operatives have been directed to embark on “Stop and Search” with immediate effect. The government’s directive was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, in Minna on Friday night. Matane said government’s action followed the “fracas and youth restiveness in Minna metropolis that led to the looting and destruction of properties which affected the peace of the city”.

Vanguard News Truck kills motorcyclist in Anambra On Kindly Share This Story: A motorcyclist lost his life on Saturday during an accident involving a truck at Akwaeze in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra. Mr Andrew Kumapayi, Anambra Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Awka. Kumapayi said the accident, which occurred at about noon, was caused by speeding and wrongful overtaking. “The crash involved an unidentified driver of a Mercedes Benz 911 Truck with registration number KPP273XD, and an unidentified rider of a Kymco motorcycle with registration number AKL172QN.
