Four killed in auto crash on Ogbomoso-Ilorin road

The Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) has confirmed the death of four persons in a car crash on the Ogbomoso-Ilorin road in Kwara State on Sunday. The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Jonathan Owoade, said the accident occurred as a result of over speeding and careless driving, adding that 18 persons were involved in the crash. “The accident, which was as a result of speed limit violation and dangerous driving, involved a commercial Toyota bus carrying 18 passengers. “Eyewitnesses told us that the driver was driving too close to a smoking trailer. So he must have hit the trailer from behind and somersaulted, after which it went up in flames. Out of 18 passengers, seven persons sustained varying degrees of injuries, four died, while others came out unhurt,” he said.

Three siblings, others crushed to death as AAUA management postpones exam to mourn victims

One killed in Bauchi Residents of Akungba Akoko are still grieving over death of five students of Adekunle Ajasin University, (AAUA), killed in their prime on Saturday, January 23, 2021 by a cement laden truck. In recent times, several persons have lost their lives to road accidents in Akungba, Ikare, Oka-Akoko axis, making the students of the university prone to untimely and avoidable deaths. Aside the involvement of the immediate past Student Union Government (SUG) President and final year Law student of the university, Samuel Tobiloba Adesomoju, popularly known as Sampraise in the ghastly accident, three siblings and one other, Olayemi Agboola, also died in the tragic event.

Woman dies after death of 3 own kids in Ondo crash

The crash reportedly occurred when a Dangote truck carrying cement lost control owing to brake failure and rammed into business centres and shops near the institution’s gate, leaving many people dead and others injured. A former students’ union president of the university and final year Law student, Adesomoju Tobi, was among the victims. The university’s management on Sunday ordered closure of the institution till further notice. Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Olugbenga Ige, who visited the scene, commiserated with the victims’ families, describing the incident as a tragedy. Meanwhile, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi, according to a statement on Sunday by FRSC spokesman, Bisi Kazeem, had deployed safety engineers to Akungba, Ondo State, to ascertain the causes and to incessant trailer crashes that have bedeviled that particular route of the highway and recommend solutions.
