Sango-Ota (Ogun), Jan. 13, 2021 (NAN) Five people were confirmed dead while 16 others sustained various degrees of injuries on Wednesday in an accident involving a Mazda bus and a truck at Danlitu community on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Mr Ojuoro Olusola, Commander of the Mowe-Ibafo Division of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed the development in an interview with newsmen at Ota in Ogun.
Olusola said that the accident that occurred at about 2.45 p.m. was due to speeding and reckless driving.
He said that a Mazda bus marked EPE-575 XA rammed into a truck with registration number, APP-397 YA from the rear while making a turning at Danlitu community on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
No fewer than three persons lost their lives, while four others sustained injuries on Tuesday, as a container fell on an 18-seater bus at Celica area on Ibadan-Ife expressway, Ibadan.

Mr Yusuf Abdullahi, the Bauchi state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has said that 21 out of the 22 passengers involved in a road accident in Bauchi have died.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accident occurred on Sunday morning, when a Toyota Hummer bus belonging to Borno Express heading to Maiduguri from Jos, with 14 passengers, and a VW Golf 3 wagon coming from Misau heading to Bauchi, with 8 passengers, including two female children, onboard, had a head-on collision.
The two vehicles had plate registration numbers as BO89A28 for the bus, and MSA759XA for the Golf car, respectively.

The Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mustapha Shehuri has said that 27,000 unemployed youths and women would benefit from the Extended Special Public Works Programme (ESPWs) of the National Directorate of Employment across the 27 Local Government Areas (LGA) of Borno State.
The initiative is aimed at cushioning the economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, create jobs and promote the maintenance of critical infrastructure at the community levels in all the 774 LGAs across the country.
