Six die as speeding luxury bus crashes into passenger buses The Punch Published 5 May 2021 Six persons died in an early morning crash on Tuesday around Ajede Ogbere between Ijebu Ode and Ore on the Sagamu-Benin Expressway. The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State, Mr Ahmed Umar, confirmed the crash, which he said involved three vehicles. The sector commander said the accident involved a Mazda bus with number plate JJJ 862 XV, a Toyota Sienna with number plate KRD 306 BJ and a Mercedes Benz luxury bus with number plate AGL 05 XZ. According to Umar, the accident occurred around 12.01am and was caused by wrongful overtaking, excessive speed and loss of control on the part of the driver of the luxury bus.

FRSC mobile court convicts 31 persons in Edo

Gavel PHOTO: iStock A mobile court constituted by the Edo Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Wednesday convicted about 31 persons for various road traffic offences in Benin. x The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 33 persons were arrested by the FRSC for violating various road safety rules, out of which 31 persons were convicted and the remaining two discharged. NAN also reports that the prevalent offences committed by the convicts were: Speed Limit Device Violation (SLDV), Drivers Licence Violation (DLV) and Seat belt Violation (SUV). Others were: Overloading (OVL), Vehicle License Violation (VLV), Fire Extinguisher Violation (FEV) and Light Sign Violation (LSV).
