Sanwo-Olu inaugurates Lagos state joint revenue committee

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday inaugurated the State Joint Revenue Committee (SJRC). The committee headed by chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Mr. Ayodele Subair, is saddled with the responsibility of implementing the decisions of Joint Tax Board and harmonise tax administration in Lagos. Other members of the committee are Chairman of Conference 57 and council boss of Lagos Mainland Local Government Area, Hon. Omolola Essien; the Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Lagos State, Mr. Olusegun Ogungbemide, Mr Akinkunmi Alaja-Browne, Barr. Alade Seyi Femi, Mr Razaak Amodu and Dr. Olusegun Adekunle Wright.

‘How it happened’ A resident of the community, Usman Yakubu, said the incident happened around 11:23 am when a petrol laden tanker was trying to avoid a head-on collision with a ‘Dangote’ trailer. He said “the tanker was coming from Lapai axis heading to Izom, after dodging a pothole, which he suddenly veered off the road and crashed, spilling the content on by the road side. According to him, “some natives of the community after noticing the petrol was pouring out of the fallen tanker rushed to the scene with buckets and jerry-cans to scoop fuel. “It was while scooping the fuel from the fallen tanker, when it suddenly exploded and killed three Almajiri boys and eights others including a woman who came to the scene to chase the boys away from the scene,” he said.

NCC: Emergency Communications Centres will Enhance Public Safety

By Emma Okonji The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has disclosed that the activation of its Emergency Communications Centres (ECCs) across the country will enhance public safety. The Executive Vice Chairman of the commission, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, said in a statement yesterday that the centres, located in state capitals, would enhance the federal government’s drive to improve security of lives and property in the country. Danbatta noted that, at a time when the country is faced with insecurity issues such as insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and many more life-threatening incidents, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the emergency communications centres, established by NCC across the states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been central to saving lives.
