Renewables need nuclear to be effective, says Gorman : Energy & Environment

Solar and wind power have the same share of low-carbon electricity globally that they did 20 years ago, proving that they need to work together with nuclear energy for net zero to be achievable, John Gorman, president & CEO of the Canadian Nuclear Association, told delegates at the Nuclear Energy Assembly yesterday. Gorman was speaking in the panel discussion Nuclear Energy: A Tool for Meeting Global Goals at the US Nuclear Energy Institute event. The panel was moderated by Carol Berrigan, NEI's executive director for Federal Programs and Supplier Relationships.

Taylor New Superintendent Named For Hickory Public Schools June 9, 2021 The Hickory Public Schools Board of Education announced the selection of the district’s new Superintendent during a specially called meeting Tuesday (June 8). The new Superintendent is Dr. Bryan W. Taylor. A native of Mount Airy, Taylor replaces Dr. Robbie Adell, who is retiring after 37 active years with the North Carolina Public Schools. Assuming his duties later this summer, Dr. Taylor is currently serving as Assistant Superintendent of Stokes County Schools where he is responsible for district administration and operations. He was also the previous Superintendent of Avery County Schools, where he led the efforts to create a balanced and sustainable budget. It’s not a fortune. It’s not awful either. So all other things being equal, if you were in need of work you’d probably take it. But what if someone else was offering you a little over $600 a week if you didn’t take it? $650 perhaps to stay at home instead. My guess is that you might think twice.
