Two Matanuska Crewmembers positive for COVID-19 No close contacts between crew and passengers    Tuesday PM (SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - On Saturday, April 17, while underway from Bellingham to Ketchikan, a member of the Matanuska s engineering crew began showing symptoms of COVID-19. The ship s captain followed the AMHS COVID-19 mitigation plan and quarantined the crewmember in their cabin with the ventilation system turned off. When Matanuska arrived in Ketchikan on Sunday, the crewmember was transported to Ketchikan Hospital, where they tested positive for COVID-19. AMHS coordinated with the Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center and Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) to conduct additional testing and contact tracing. No passengers were identified as close contacts, and testing located one additional positive case among the engineering crew.

KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center on Tuesday recorded two new cases of COVID-19 in the community, and Ketchikan Charter School announced that it would reopen for in-person learning on Wednesday after being closed to students and staff on Tuesday due to a positive case involving an individual connected to the school. One of the cases recorded by the EOC on Tuesday involved a symptomatic individual, and one involved someone who was asymptomatic, according to a late Tuesday afternoon press release from the EOC. One case was determined to be close contact to a known positive case, and one case remains under investigation, the EOC release read.

KETCHIKAN (KDN) — Eight total cases of COVID-19 — with two cases involving crewmembers on an Alaska Marine Highway System vessel — were reported by the Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center on Monday. Ketchikan Charter School s main building will be closed for in-person learning on Tuesday after a positive COVID-19 case was identified involving an individual connected to the school. According to a late afternoon press release from the EOC, the two cases involving individuals onboard the AMHS vessel Matanuska were reported on Sunday. One of those individuals is quarantining in Ketchikan hotel, and the other is quarantining at home in Juneau, according to AMHS information.
