Benton County Firefighters including the Kennewick Firefighters stayed very busy over the 4th of July weekend. If you were in the Columbia Basin this weekend and looked skyward, you saw fireworks soar from Pasco, Richland, West Richland, and even Kennewick, where fireworks are illegal, fill the night sky. The fireworks meant that our local firefighters were kept quite busy with fire calls. One call according to the Kennewick Police Department was at Canal and Volland in Kennewick. According to the KPD, illegal fireworks were the cause of the fire at the intersection and luckily no structures were damaged. KPD is still investigating and searching for the culprit of the fire.
