18 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last update, which was issued Friday (April 9) by Catawba County Public Health. The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is 18,008. There were no new coronavirus-related deaths reported, and 18 people were hospitalized.
Zero new cases were reported in Caldwell County Friday, leaving the total at 9,041, with 142 deaths. Hospitalizations dropped to five. Burke County Public Health Friday reported the county’s 150th virus-related death. The individual was in their 60s and was hospitalized. Health officials in Burke County reported 9,825 cases overall, and there were six people hospitalized.

22 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Tuesday (April 6) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the overall total to 17,950, with 296 deaths. There were 16 people hospitalized with the coronavirus in Catawba County.
Three new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Alexander County on Tuesday according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The total number of cases is 4,188, with 84 deaths. One COVID-19-related death was reported in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 142. Nine new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Caldwell, increasing the total to 9,015. Eight people were hospitalized. There was no COVID-19 update issued Tuesday by Burke County Health officials.

22 new cases of COVID-19 were reported today (April 6) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the overall total to 17,950, with 296 deaths. There were 16 people hospitalized with the coronavirus in Catawba County.
Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Mandy Cohen gave an update on the state’s current data, trends and vaccination progress. Tomorrow marks the opening of vaccine eligibility for Group 5. This means anyone 16 years and older who wants a COVID-19 vaccination is eligible to get one.
Monday Morning COVID-19 Update
According to the last update from Catawba County Public Health last Thursday (April 1), 28 new cases of COVID-19 were reported, raising the overall total to 17,847 since the start of the pandemic. No COVID-19-associated deaths were reported by health officials, leaving the total at 295. 15 people were hospitalized with the coronavirus in Catawba County, the same total as Wednesday.
Caldwell County’s last update was issued Thursday as well, and it showed nine new cases of the virus, increasing the total to 8,977, with 140 deaths. There were seven people hospitalized. According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, 20 new cases of COVID-19 were added in Alexander County, raising the total to 4,165, with 84 deaths.
