The Green Room Theatreâs Southern comedy âAlways a Bridesmaidâ promises to offer plenty of laughs, but actresses caution attendees not to expect valid wedding planning advice!
This Jones Hope Wooten play revolves around four friends who promised the night of their high school prom that they would be bridesmaids in one anotherâs weddings. Thirty years later, the weddings are still happening, but not without setbacks such as fistfights, cold feet and bad timing as the doves are released.
âAlways a Bridesmaidâ will be onstage May 7-16. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays (May 7, 8, 13, 14, 15) and 3 p.m. on Sundays (May 9 and 16). The show is produced by Interstate Foam and is directed by Jeanne Laws.

During the past week, Catawba Valley Community College was honored to host the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Womenâs Basketball Championship at the Tarlton Complex â an event that was moved to Hickory just short 12 days prior to its first tip off.
The tournament, which was originally scheduled to be held at St. Clair Community College in Port Huron, Mich., was moved due to an increase in COVID cases in St. Clair County in Michigan.
For those who arenât aware, national tournaments hosted by the NJCAA are usually awarded and bid on by colleges years before the events take place in order to plan this great undertaking, but under the current environment the move of the yearâs event had to happen quickly. The quality of the tournament could not be affected, and most importantly, the experience of the student-athletes was paramount. This undertaking had to be planned and organized in less than 10 short day
