A protected revenue shortfall forced Guernsey County Commissioners to approve a $1.7 million carryover from the county s reserves to balance the 2021 general fund budget.
Commissioners unanimously approved the $15.8 million budget during a meeting Wednesday at the Guernsey County Administration Building.
The 2021 budget reflects a 3% increase from last year s $15.3 million budget. We are happy that we have a cash balance to cover the deficit margin, and we attribute that to the fiscal responsibility of the county s department leaders and former county commissioners, said Commissioner Dave Wilson. We have been very conservative for years, and now we are thankful that we have been conservative, added Commissioner Skip Gardner.
