Opposition boycotts Kerala Governor s policy address, stages protest outside Assembly
Opposition leaders raised slogans against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Speaker as Governor Arif Mohammad Khan arrived to deliver his address. Protesting opposition legislators later walked out of the Assembly hall and staged a sit-in.

The Congress-led UDF opposition boycotted Governor Arif Mohammad Khan s policy address in the Kerala Assembly on the first day of the budget session on Thursday.
New Delhi [India], January 8 (ANI): The Supreme court deferred to January 12, the hearing on the appeal filed by the CBI against the discharge of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, former Power Department secretary K Mohanachandran and former joint secretary A Francis in the SNC Lavalin corruption scam case.
A three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Uday Umesh Lalit and also comprising Justices Hemant Gupta and S Ravindra Bhat, adjourned the matter to January 12, Tuesday.
The top court in its last hearing on December 4, 2020, expressed its serious unhappiness and dissatisfaction with the probe agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the appeal against the acquittal of Vijayan in the SNC-Lavlin case, and had asked the CBI, as to why it was seeking adjournment every time the matter is taken up for hearing.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 7 : Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that a filament-less Kerala is the alternative to reduce global warming, adding that conservation of energy is as important as generation.
The Chief minister was delivering his inaugural address during distribution of LED bulbs in the state through video conference.
Vijayan said that production and promotion of LED bulbs is the policy of the state government. He said that 1 crore LED bulbs are being distributed to 17 lakh consumers who have registered with the state electricity board. He also added that consumers who require LED bulbs can again register with the board.
