No lockdown in Kerala, stricter curbs to be imposed: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Apr 26, 2021, 19:24 PM IST Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced that a lockdown will not be announced in the state instead stricter restrictions will be enforced to curb the spread of COVID-19.  Vijayan made the announcement at a press comference after a 2-hour meeting with all parties and stated that it was a common opinion to not impose a lockdown. In the all-party meeting today, the common opinion was that Kerala should not go into a complete lock down. But all parties suggested that strict restrictions should be enforced in the state to curb the spread of COVID-19, Vijayan was quoted as saying by ANI.

Participants at all party meeting feel lockdown not needed in Kerala: CM Vijayan ANI | Updated: Apr 26, 2021 19:13 IST Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], April 26 (ANI): Participants at an all-party meeting arrived at a consensus not to impose a lockdown in Kerala but to have strict restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19, said Kerala Chief MinisterPinarayi Vijayan on Monday. Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the state, Ramesh Chennithala said, The all-party meeting has decided to not go for a general lockdown in the state, but containment zones will be declared in places where they are necessary. He said that the all-party meeting called for a curb to victory processions after election results are declared.
