But there was laughter, too, as good memories were shared and recoveries from the virus were celebrated. It was hard seeing people lose people day after day, and they were unable to have funerals and were unable to grieve with other people, said Terri Ledbetter, a registered nurse educator, and one of the organizers of the memorial. So, we just thought we would offer an opportunity for some of the families of all these people that are on these signs out here (bearing photos of victims of COVID) to maybe come together. We just thought it would be a good time for them to grieve.
What began as a simple idea for a playground came to life through the vision, dedication and passion of people in the Brookwood community and the educational system.
When the ribbon was cut for the new playground for pre-kindergarten students in a unique class at Brookwood High School, it was the culmination of the vision that began one year earlier.
Brookwood High Assistant Principal Tripp Marshall wanted a pre-K classroom at his school. When he met Paul Magner from the Brookwood community and shared the ideas with him, Magner helped make the vision reality.
“I told him the vision for having a pre-K classroom at the high school, how we could use it in all of our career tech classes,” Marshall said. “We could build a teacher and training program where we can start organically developing our own students here into the type of teacher we would want to have at Brookwood High School. The NFL draft is often described as a roller coaster with its manic ups and downs. However, Broncos Country experienced many more twists and turns than initially expected after being connected to the disgruntled Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.
Then, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields slid from his top-5 projection range into the lap of Denver Broncos GM George Paton with the No. 9 overall pick.
After the clock hit zero and the pick was in, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced that the Broncos had selected Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II.
While I was initially caught off-guard with the Surtain pick, due to the red-hot QB market, the selection is a home run for Paton and the Broncos. I’ve previously written multiple articles ad nauseam connecting the 21-year-old defensive back to Denver and projecting his fit in Vic Fangio’s defense.

Boom: Fields is an elite athlete who showed excellent accuracy and mobility while at Ohio State. He completed over 70% of his passes last season and showed toughness, overcoming multiple injuries. Bears head coach Matt Nagy is a former quarterback coach who was hired for his ability to develop offensive players.
Bust: The Bears already struck out on 2017 first-round pick Mitchell Trubisky, and Fields will still need time to develop as a passer. His ability to throw on the run is seen as a weakness, and it could take him time to fix it. He also doesn t have elite talent around him, with offensive line and receive depth issues in Chicago, plus Nagy could be entering a make-or-break year that could further complicate Fields development.
