Vehicle fire spreads to house in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, MI A brief housefire occurred in Kalamazoo on Saturday, April 3.
At an unspecified time, Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to a reported structure fire in the 1500 block of Stockbridge Avenue. A vehicle that had been in the house’s driveway had caught fire, which then extended to the residence.
The first arriving officers rushed inside and safely removed the remaining residents while an initial fire suppression effort halted the fire’s spread. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 20 minutes of their arrival.

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety police responded to the 900 block of Jasper Street near Bronson Hospital for a report of a suspicious object Friday evening.
Authorities say that the object was given to a citizen who, upon seeing it starting to flash, thought it was suspicious, and contacted police.
The Public Safety Bomb Squad responded to the scene as a precautionary measure while traffic was shut down on Crosstown Parkway. The device was then secured, determined to be safe and non-hazardous in nature. After further review, police determined the incident was merely a suspicious occurrence.
