Man, 21, killed New Year’s Day at Kalamazoo apartment complex

KALAMAZOO, MI After a year in which the city of Kalamazoo saw 13 people killed by gun violence, it took just one day in 2021 before the year’s first victim was shot and killed at a West Douglas apartment complex.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to a report of shots fired in a building in the 1300 block of Fox Ridge Drive at Fox Ridge Apartments at around 4 p.m. Jan. 1.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to the 1300 block of Fox Ridge Drive regarding a report of gunshots fired inside a building, Jan. 1 at approximately 4:02 p.m.
First arriving officers located a 21 year old man suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a press release from KDPS. KDPS officers provided aid to the man, but he succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene.Â
Detectives responded to the scene and are currently investigating the incident. No arrests have been made at this time.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. â A shooting that happened on New Year s Day left one man dead, according to officials with Kalamazoo Public Safety (KPS).
The incident occurred Friday afternoon around 4 p.m., with officers responding to reports of shots fired inside a building at the 1300 block of Fox Ridge Drive.
Upon arrival, officers found a 21-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after police arrival.
As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests have been made regarding the incident.
This incident is currently being investigated by detectives with KPS Detectives responded to the scene, and are currently investigating the incident.
