Crews are carrying out emergency repairs to a significant burst to a watermain in the centre of Spiddal village, affecting supply to customers in Spiddal and surrounding areas.
Irish Water and Galway County Council Crews are working to repair this burst as quickly and as safely as possible and in line with COVID-19 protocols.
The Spiddal to Moycullen Road will be closed while these repairs are underway and traffic management and diversions will be in place.
Supply has been maintained to most areas through the diversion of flow through alternative sections of the pipe network so the vast majority of customers will have continuity of supply.

Irish Water and Mayo County Council are working hard to restore water to customers in Kiltimagh and surrounding areas this evening following a significant burst on the main water distribution pipe feeding the town.
Once the burst has been located, emergency repairs will be carried out as safely as possible and in line with COVID-19 protocols.
Given the impact this burst has had on the local water supply it may be tomorrow before a full supply is returned to all customers.
Updates will be available as the repair progresses on the Irish Water website www.water.ie under the water supply and service section.

The role of the Coroner is essential in any investigation into the mass graves at the former Tuam Mother and baby home, according to Breeda Murphy the PRO of Tuam Mother and Baby Home Alliance.
Earlier this week, the Oireachtas Children’s Committee heard from a range of experts and campaigners as it scrutinised the Industrial Burials Bill. The proposed legislation will enable an agency to be set up to oversee exhumations of remains at former mother and baby home institutions.

Galway Chamber have welcomed the completion of a Statement of Case by An Bord Pleanála on the strategic infrastructure application.
An Bord Pleanála stated that it was of the view that the proposed development as part of this application should be given consent for imperative reasons of overriding public interest (IROPI).
