However, it says a small number will continue for certain people over the age of 60. It follows NIAC s recommendation that the vaccine be used for people in their 60s only, due to rare blood clotting. Meanwhile the roll-out of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to Ireland has been delayed as the company examines reports of rare blood clots. Use of the jab was suspended in the US as they examine 6 cases among the 6.8 million doses already given.

In response to growing business demand, they plan to increase their workforce by 150 over three years with the creation of highly skilled jobs in Production, Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain Management. In addition, the company is planning to treble its manufacturing capacity with the establishment of a new facility in An Spidéal and it is anticipated that this development will be fully completed by mid-2025. The business has provided highly skilled employment in the Conamara Gaeltacht and their 120 employees since 2008, specialising in the custom design, development and manufacturing of medical implants.
