NORTH VERNON, Ind. – On April 20, around 4:04 p.m., Jennings County deputies were dispatched to the area of County Road 350 North and County Road 150 East in reference to a female that had been cut in the neck. Upon arrival to the location, deputies reportedly found a female that had been cut across the front of her neck.
The victim was able to tell deputies that she was driving her car and that she and her boyfriend, James Davis, 34, of Butlerville, who was a passenger began to argue. The victim stated that Davis pulled a knife and used it to cut her neck while she was driving. The victim was able to stop the car and get out and that Davis had then got into the car and left. She was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital.

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Regional Health (CRH) announced Wednesday the swearing-in of the Chief of Police and Assistant Chief of the newly formed Columbus Regional Hospital Police Department. Anthony “Tony” Pope, Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), serves as the hospital’s Chief of Police and James Webster is Assistant Chief.
Pope and Webster officially took the oath in late March. Wednesday’s official ceremony marked one milestone in the transitional process as the health system works to develop and implement its law enforcement status. The CRH Board of Trustees approved the formation of a Columbus Regional Hospital Police Department in December 2020.

COLUMBUS, Ind. – It was announced Thursday that Katelyn Mings, 29, of Columbus, has been charged in the fatal car crash that killed her 10-year-old daughter.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) was dispatched to East 25th Street, on January 17, regarding the accident. Upon arrival, deputies found Kaydence Mings, 10, deceased at the scene. The driver, Katelyn Mings, mother of the deceased, her infant child, and another passenger were also in the vehicle.
Following an investigation by BCSO, the Columbus Police Department, and Indiana State Police, a preliminary report was sent to the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office.
The prosecutor’s office announced formal charges on Tuesday against Katelyn Mings for causing a death when operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person less than 18 years of age.
