Dec 24, 2020 COLUMBIA COUNTY (WKOW) A house in the town of Wyocena is damaged after a fire Wednesday, according to the Columbia County Sheriff s Office. Authorities said the fire was reported at 7:12 p.m. in the 5000 block of Salisbury Road. The caller said flames were seen along the roof of the home. They were able to alert the people who live there and get them out safely. Many area fire departments responded to the scene, including the Rio Fire Department, Wyocena Bureau of Fire, Pardeeville Fire Department, Doylestown Fire Department, Portage Fire Department, Poynette Fire Department, and Cambria Fire Department.

The reason? The two individuals admitted to stealing packages while distributing the campaign materials.  The two suspects now under arrest were charged with four counts of misdemeanor theft by taking. One of the suspects, Cesar Guerrero, was additionally charged with felony obstruction after allegedly punching one of the responding deputies multiple times in the head while being placed under arrest.  The Columbia County Sheriff s Office arrested two people Wednesday accused of stealing packages from porches at homes in Evans and Grovetown.

Arrest records from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office show Santina Walker and Cesar Guerrero, both 19, were arrested Tuesday afternoon. The two were each charged with four counts of misdemeanor theft, with Guerrero additionally charged with felony willful obstruction of law enforcement officer by use of force. A deputy dispatched in response to a package theft suspicion conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle driven by Walker, and found several packages and items that appeared to be new in the trunk, reported The Augusta Chronicle.

Police: Traffic stop turns up fentanyl, 3 charged

AUSTERLITZ — A traffic stop in Austerlitz turned up almost 500 grams of fentanyl and led to the arrest of three Columbia County residents on drug possession charges, State Police Troop K public information officer Aaron Hicks said Wednesday. Tanner J. Rivenburgh, 25, of Austerlitz, Joseph J. Zeoli, 32, of Greenport, and Floyd L. Dallas, 41, of Philmont were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, both class B felonies, Hicks said. After a traffic stop on Route 203 in Austerlitz, police determined the occupants of the 2020 Subaru Impreza were in possession of approximately 493 grams of fentanyl, Hicks said.
