The Click It or Ticket campaign will run through Sunday, June 6. The campaign comes in advance of the “100 deadly days of summer,” which historically marks an increase in traffic fatalities between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Statewide, Colorado’s seat belt use is 86%, which is 4% lower than the national average of 90%. To date in 2021, there have been 193 deaths on Colorado roadways, a 12% increase compared to this time last year. In 2020, traffic fatalities were up three percent despite far fewer people on the road,” said CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew. “More than half of those lost on our roads were not wearing their seat belts. Landowners northwest of Masonville called CPW back in December to report an injured bear cub seen on their parent’s porch. The cub was suffering from old burns on its feet it got during the Cameron Peak Fire. According to CPW when they found the bear it weighed just 16 pounds, its ears were infected from frostbite, it was severely dehydrated, weak, and starving.

The Colonial Pipeline delivers close to 45% of the fuel consumed on the East Coast. The pipeline s computer system was hit by a cyberattack on Friday, resulting in the shutdown. Although the pipeline does not serve in Colorado, the state is feeling the impacts. I have come here for twenty years and have never had to wait 20 minutes, said Jody Harbin, Colorado Springs community member.

Construction underway for a tiny home village for the homeless in Colorado Springs Erin Chapman and last updated 2021-05-12 00:27:09-04 A local organization, We Fortify, has come up with a proactive solution to help young adults who are homeless, or on the verge of losing their home. Shelley Jensen, founder of the 501 c(3) nonprofit, has researched housing models for years. Jensen came up with Working Fusion at Mill Street. The tiny home community is geared towards young adults, ages 18-25, in our community who face homelessness. Home owners will be allowed to live in the home for up to two years, and are required to pay rent.
