A strong third period comeback bid fell just short as the Laval Rocket fell to the Toronto Marlies 4-3 at the Coca Cola Coliseum on Friday night.
Jesse Ylönen, Josh Brook, and Joseph Blandisi each had a goal, while the last two added and assists in the loss, which ended a three-game road trip for the Rocket. The two teams will meet again Sunday at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
The game started off with a bang. Just 23 seconds into the game, Scott Sabourin drove to the net. He collided with Rocket goaltender Cayden Primeau, and after Lukas Vejdemo went up to him, he started throwing punches. Vejdemo got two minutes for roughing, but Sabourin got five for fighting, two for goaltender interference, and a game misconduct for being the aggressor.

The Belleville Senators return to the ice Friday in Montreal when they take on the Laval Rocket as the American Hockey League’s Canadian Division begins its schedule. The AHL released a partial Canadian Division schedule for the month of February late Tuesday. The the B-Senators will play four games in a span of a week from February 12 to 19 at Montreal’s Bell Centre against the Laval Rocket. There is still no word, however, on what the Province of Ontario has decided with regards to allowing Belleville and the Toronto Marlies to play at their home rinks, CAA Arena and Coca-Cola Coliseum, respectively, before the end of February.
