Cases tally so far in the Nilgiris crosses the 10,000 mark
A total of 1,566 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Coimbatore district on Monday, registering the highest single day case load so far.
Three more deaths took the toll in the district so far to 729. The Health Department said three men aged 44,51 and 72 died of the disease at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on May 1.
According to the district administration, swab samples collected from 7,970 persons were subjected to COVID-19 test on Monday.
Active cases in the district stood at 8,188 on Monday and 1,420 persons were in home isolation. A total of 1,063 persons recovered from the disease on Monday.

A total of 1,257 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Coimbatore district on Saturday, the highest daily caseload reported so far in the district.
The district had 7,288 active cases of the disease, according to the Health Department.
According to the Department, 913 persons got discharged from treatment centres on Saturday.
The district’s death toll reached 723 after a 63-year-old woman died at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Thursday.
Tiruppur district’s daily caseload saw a slight increase on Saturday with the reporting of 438 new cases, which took the tally to 26,850 cases.

T.N.’s toll surpasses 14,000; over 10.37 lakh people have been discharged so far after treatment
The State added 18,692 more cases of COVID-19 on Friday, taking its tally to 11,66,756. Another 113 persons succumbed to the infection, taking the toll to 14,046. Active cases touched 1,15,128.
As many as 16,007 people were discharged after treatment, taking the total figure to 10,37,582.
In Chennai, 5,473 people tested positive for the infection, taking the tally to 31,222. As many as 5,327 people were discharged in the district after treatment. It also logged 42 fatalities due to the infection.

For the second consecutive day, the daily caseload of COVID-19 remained above the 1,000-mark in Coimbatore district on Sunday.
The district reported 1,038 new cases on Sunday, taking the number of active cases to 6,757.
The Health Department said that 724 persons recovered from the disease on Sunday.
The district’s death toll increased to 714 after a 53-year-old man died at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on April 23.
Tiruppur district on Sunday reported 376 new cases. It had 2,404 active cases and 265 persons got discharged from hospitals on Sunday.
In the Nilgiris, 79 people tested positive on Sunday.
With the latest infections, the total number of confirmed cases in the district stands at 9,604. The number of deaths in the district stood at 51 on Sunday while 478 people are undergoing treatment.

A total of 1,004 persons from Coimbatore district tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, registering the highest single-day caseload since the onset of the pandemic.
According to the Health Department, Coimbatore district had 6,437 active cases of COVID-19 on Saturday while 403 persons recovered from the disease.
The district’s death toll increased to 713 after three COVID-19 patients aged 57, 32 and 48 died at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Thursday and Friday.
Tiruppur district on Saturday reported 316 new cases. A total of 197 persons got discharged from different hospitals after recovering from the disease on Saturday.
The Health Department said that Tiruppur district had 2,293 active cases of the disease as of Saturday.
