Kraft raises starting salary
COSHOCTON - Kraft-Heinz of Coshocton has announced starting pay has been raised to $16.14 an hour. They are currently hiring for production team members.
Available are full-time union positions with overtime, opportunity for career advancement and benefits.
The local plant is at 1660 S. Second St. and one can apply at kraftcareers.com.
Coshocton man injured in crash
COSHOCTON - A Coshocton man was taken to a Columbus Hospital Thursday evening after being ejected from his vehicle during an accident.
The Coshocton County Sheriff s Office said the single-vehicle crash happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. Thursday on Ohio 541, near Township Road 80, in Bedford Township.
County pursuing new jail funding, location
Possible site is at end of North Third Street, where Steel Ceilings once stood
COSHOCTON - Coshocton County officials continue to pursue construction of a new jail as they solidify funding and location.
Coshocton County Commissioners originally bought the vacant lot at the corner of Seventh and Walnut streets, once home to Central Elementary School, for a new Coshocton Justice Center. In March, it was announced the lot will have buildings constructed for Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services and Coshocton County Coordinated Transportation Agency.
Commissioner Dane Shryock said they received some public pushback to locating the jail near the library, a school and a few churches. Shryock recently said the county is in talks with the Coshocton Port Authority for 15.8 acres land it owns at the end of North Third Street, former site of Steel Ceilings. Porch fires causes damages
COSHOCTON - The Coshocton Fire Department said an exterior porch fire at a residence in the 1100 block of East Main Street resulted in about $15,000 in damages of contents and property.
The fire started shortly before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and was contained in about a half hour. There were no injuries. Cause is under investigation, but it s believed the blaze was accidental and electrical in nature.
Assisting on scene were the Salvation Army and Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services.
Community Hospice to hold golf outing
WEST LAFAYETTE - Community Hospice will hold a Spring Swing Golf Outing May 27 at River Greens Golf Course, 22749 Ohio 751, West Lafayette. Registration is at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

New coronavirus cases reported in last week
COSHOCTON - As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, the Coshocton County Unified Command reported 2,327 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 329 probable cases in Coshocton County for 2,656 cases since the start of the pandemic. That s an increase of 13 since last Wednesday.
Recoveries have been 2,555 with 43 cases active and in isolation and 58 deaths. There are 31 people in quarantine and no current hospitalizations. It s second week in a row for now active hospitalizations.
The Ohio Department of Health reported Wednesday morning that 10,138 people in Coshocton County have received at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, or 27.7% of the population. This includes more than half of those 60 and older.
