Pair indicted in hit-and-run crash that injured motorcyclists Jarome Starner and Melannis Stevens indicted for critically injuring a Waynesburg couple COSHOCTON – Two individuals involved in a hit -and-run crash that critically injured a Waynesburg couple on a motorcycle were recently indicted by the Coshocton County Grand Jury. According to the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office, on March 27 Shawn O’Neill, 57, and his wife, Robin, 58, were struck on Ohio 751, near Township Road 250. Authorities said the motorcycle struck a guardrail and came to rest in a ditch with both riders being ejected. In relation to the incident, Jarome L. Starner, 39, of Coshocton was indicted with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. Melannis L. Stevens, 45, of West Lafayette, was indicted with two counts of failure to stop after an accident, fifth-degree felonies, two counts of vehicular assault, fourth-degree felonies, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

Local News Briefs: Officials looking for driver who left crash scene Staff Report Officials looking for driver who left crash scene COSHOCTON - The Coshocton County Sheriff s Office is investigating a traffic crash where the drive left the scene from approximately 7:17 p.m. Thursday in the 28000 block of County Road 93 in Adams Township. Authorities said a 2003 Toyota sedan was traveling south when it went off the right side of the roadway and overcorrected coming back onto the road. It then went off the left side of the road, struck a tree and overturned. The sheriff s office said the driver left the scene prior to arrival of deputies in a UTV. The driver had not been located as of Friday morning.

Vigil held to honor Brianna Ratliff Several hundred people came out to honor 20-year-old found dead in a vacant house on Sunday COSHOCTON - Several hundred people attended a candlelight vigil Tuesday evening at Hall Park to remember Brianna Ratliff. The 20-year-old graduate of Coshocton High School went missing on April 15. Her body was found April 18 in a vacant house near the park by a search team.  Blake Grewell, 19, of Coshocton was formally charged with murder, an unclassified felony, in the incident on Tuesday. Authorities said Grewell was a former friend of the victim. Further charges are pending review of the case by the Coshocton County Prosecutor s Office.

Grewell was taken into custody Monday and charged with aggravated murder in connection to the disappearance and death of 20-year-old Brianna Ratliff, the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on Tuesday. Investigators described Grewell as a former friend of the victim. No details on what evidence led to the arrest of Grewell or the charge against him were immediately provided.
