The Corning City Council is expected to vote at 6:30 p.m. Monday to approve a proposed $21,240,679 city spending plan that includes a 1.32 percent tax hike.
The proposed 2021-22 budget would spend about $872,501 more than the current budget, which expires June 30, said City Manager Mark Ryckman.
He said a large portion of the increase comes from a combination of additional road repair funding provided by the state and increased pension costs.
“Never has it been clearer the skill and ability of our city’s professional staff than in producing this budget,” said Mayor Bill Boland. “This budget demonstrates robust and constant financial planning that permits us to adjust to turbulent times while keeping tax increases low, and maintaining the full range of services our citizens rely on.”
