Ava, left, and Lily TWO schoolgirls braved some awful Bank Holiday weather to raise money for charity. Lily Howard and best friend Ava Nicholson didn t let the wind and rain stop them from holding a bake sale. The 10-year-olds, both from Winnington, baked and sold more than 500 cupcakes, muffins, cookies and brownie bombs. The pair are raising money for the Alzheimer s Society – a cause close to Lily s heart after she lost her great-grandmother and her grandad to the disease. Lily Howard, left, and Ava Nicholson Proud mum Samantha Howard said the girls had now raised a total of £1,187 for the charity.
The adventure of a lifetime is on offer to Central Queensland youth with the Young Endeavour to set sail off the coast.
Applications are now open for young Australians aged between 16 and 23 to join Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour for voyages between May and December 2021.
