Lily Howard and best friend Ava Nicholson didn t let the wind and rain stop them from holding a bake sale. The 10-year-olds, both from Winnington, baked and sold more than 500 cupcakes, muffins, cookies and brownie bombs. The pair are raising money for the Alzheimer s Society – a cause close to Lily s heart after she lost her great-grandmother and her grandad to the disease. Lily Howard, left, and Ava Nicholson Proud mum Samantha Howard said the girls had now raised a total of £1,187 for the charity.
