LA GRANGE, IL La Grange saw the lowest rate of increase in new coronavirus cases last week since the onset of the crisis.
As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had seen 1,744 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 32 from a week before, or a 1.9 percent increase, according to the Cook County Public Health Department. The three previous weeks were, chronologically, 4.6 percent, 6.4 percent, 3.4 percent and 2.5 percent.
Tragedy struck on Wednesday morning after officials say a fire broke out inside an Illinois home, ultimately killing a 25-year-old mother and her four young daughters.

At a special City Council meeting, city officials said they expect housing insecurity to only increase as the pandemic wears on. One resident expressed concern Wednesday for a family member who lost his job last spring and has since struggled to find affordable housing options in Evanston.
“We thought we had gotten him placed in an apartment and his case worker assured him he would get one, but then he was told it was too expensive and I thought it was really unfair,” the resident said.

A woman who was celebrating her 26th birthday was shot to death in her car late Sunday night in Chicago s Garfield Park neighborhood.
Police said she was stopped at a red light in the 700-block of North Hamlin Avenue just after 11 p.m. when someone pulled up next to her and fired shots, striking her in the head twice.
