Chicago Police Chief David Brown, who leads 13,500 police officers in the city with the largest BG diaspora on the planet, awarded the member of the Bulgarian-American Police Association (
BAPA) Officer Georgi Mavrov with the prestigious award and a medal for saving lives. The officer, born in Blagoevgrad, Georgi Mavrov saw a fallen man and after finding that he was not breathing and without a pulse, began cardio-pulmonary first aid (CPR) with chest compressions and artificial respiration.
The ambulance arrived after about 5 minutes, and by then he was able to restore the man s pulse and breathing. The heroic act and quick reaction of Officer Georgi Mavrov helped to save the man s life. Bravo, Officer Georgi Mavrov!!!, his colleagues wrote on Facebook from BAPA.
Missing girl, 13, last seen Saturday in suburban Elk Grove Township

ELK GROVE TOWNSHIP - The Cook County Sheriff s Office is asking for the public s help in locating a missing 13-year-old girl.
Angela Chacon-Escobedo was last seen Saturday around 7 p.m. leaving her home in the 7500 block of Elmhurst Road in unincorporated Elk Grove Township.
The teen is described as standing 5-foot-1, weighing 130 pounds, having brown hair, brown eyes, an olive complexion and a left nose piercing. She was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants and white shoes.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call 911, the Cook County Sheriff s Police at 708-865-4896, or the Cook County Sheriff s Office Non-Emergency number at 847-635-1188.

MOULTRIE, Ga.- Colquitt County Drug Enforcement Team along with United States Marshals and Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested a suspect in an assault and robbery case.
DET investigators Justin Searcy and Ivon Folsom were requested to assist state and federal agencies in apprehending Anterrio Merritt of Lenox Thursday afternoon at the Hope Hotel in Lenox, Searcy said.
Law enforcement personnel were executing five warrants obtained by 1st Sgt. Justin Lindsay of the Moultrie Police Department in connection with âincidents within the city of Moultrie.â
The charges are aggravated assault, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and theft by taking, authorities said.
