IMMAF creates athlete influencer panel to educate on social media use Wednesday, 19 May 2021
The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has created an athlete influencer panel to educate youngsters about social media use.
It is hoped the idea will help create a positive space online and prevent the opportunity for harm.
Members have been appointed in the build-up to this year s IMMAF Youth MMA World Championships in Sofia, which will see athletes aged between 12 and 17 compete from July 30 to August 1.
The panel also coincides with the IMMAF expanding its social media presence by joining video platform TikTok.
Andreas Georgiou, the IMMAF s social media manager, will chair the panel which will help athletes with guidance, creative ideas, content and support sessions.
Youth MMA World Championships 2021 moves from Turkey to Bulgaria

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation has announced the relocating of its scheduled 2021 Youth MMA World Championships from Istanbul to Sofia (Bulgaria) due to the threat of the escalating COVID-19 situation in Turkey and increasing government restrictions.

The competition dates of 30 July to 1 August remain the same.
The Bulgarian MMA Federation is strongly placed to guarantee the security of the Championships having the recognition and endorsement of its Sports Ministry. The BULMMAF boasts previous experience in hosting IMMAF competitions, having co-organised the European Championships in 2017, and has also been organising national level, youth MMA competitions since 2014.

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has announced the relocation of this year’s Youth World Championships from Istanbul in Turkey to Bulgarian capital Sofia because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The event is scheduled to run from July 30 to August 1, but the IMMAF said it was forced to change host cities due to the threat of the escalating COVID-19 situation in Turkey and increasing Government restrictions.
A rise in coronavirus cases led the Turkish Government to impose a two-and-a-half-week nationwide lockdown in late April.
The country has registered more than 43,300 deaths from the virus with 282 of those coming in the past 24 hours along with 13,604 new infections.
