WASHINGTON, Jan. 15, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The Teamsters Airline Division and The Aviation Mechanics Coalition (TAMC) are elated that the Promoting Aviation Regulations for Technical Training Act (PARTT 147) was signed into law last month as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act (H.R. 133). PARTT 147 requires the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to reform technical education in a way that promotes innovative curriculum development for aviation mechanics. A critical way it accomplishes this is by allowing schools to adjust their curriculum as needed to be more aligned with the latest Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Airman Certification Standard (ACS).
Court Upholds FMCSA Exemption of Trucking From California Rest Break Rules

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s 2018 determination that interstate motor carriers are exempt from California’s stringent meal-and-rest-break rules, a decision that supporters say will avoid a future state-by-state patchwork of rest break rules.
“The FMCSA reached this conclusion because California required more breaks, more often and with less flexibility as to timing,” the court’s three-judge panel said in its Jan. 15 opinion.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The University is seeking nominees for the role of 2021-22 Penn State Laureate, with nomination materials due by Monday, Jan. 18, 2021.
The endowed annual position of Penn State Laureate was established in 2008 to bring greater visibility to the arts and humanities (a thematic priority in Penn State’s strategic plan) and the honoree’s work, and to enrich the University.
The Penn State Laureate is a full-time faculty member who is assigned half-time to this role for one academic year. The laureate has opportunities throughout the year to bring their artistic perspectives to a variety of audiences, including visits to Commonwealth Campuses and communities statewide.
