Arlington Economic Development celebrates National Economic Development Week and highlights a few partnerships and investments that support local business.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation appointed Quentin Messer Jr. as its next CEO.
After a national search, the MEDC’s executive committee said Tuesday that it named Messer to the role. He replaces Mark Burton, who stepped down from the position in March.
Awenate Cobbina, MEDC executive committee chair, and Jeff Noel, vice chair, will continue to lead the organization until Messer starts July 19, with Noel serving as CEO making decisions concurrently with Cobbina.

Indigenous Economic Development Week is winding down, but the plans from it remain ongoing. The week was declared in Saskatchewan coinciding with International Economic Development Week.
Entrepreneurs, whether they need help for a food truck or setting a solar generation facility, are benefiting from supports available from groups like the Saskatchewan Indigenous Economic Development Network, or SIEDN.
Milton Tootoosis is the chair for SIEDN. He says they can provide supporting data to help promote community economic development, but a big problem remains start up dollars.

The dashboard was launched in celebration of the International Economic Development Council’s Economic Development Week. Parish leaders say the dashboard provides timely, relevant, easy-to-understand data curated from its monthly Snapshot: Impacts of COVID-19 on St. Tammany publications – produced since May 19, 2020 – that continues to focus specifically on economic characteristics. This new digital tool shows how, more than a year into the pandemic, the economic landscape in St. Tammany has changed, according to parish leaders.
