Nigeriaâs experienced Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practitioner, Morenike Obi-Farinde has been appointed into the pioneer seven-man Tribunal of the world table tennis ruling body, International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
With this development, Obi-Farinde who is bringing three decades of legal practice and two decades as an ADR practitioner to the ITTF Tribunal will be the first African and Nigerian to be appointed as a member of the pioneer ITTF Tribunal.
She is a member of the Nigeria Olympic Committeeâs (NOC) Ethics and Governance Commission and a legal practitioner in areas including sports law and dispute resolution.
Speaking on her new role, Obi-Farinde, who is a multi-disciplinary practitioner excelling in contentious and non-contentious matters said: âIt is an opportunity to add my Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) experience and skills of about three decades in the legal profession in sports governance and administration in general and Table

International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) chief executive Steve Dainton has insisted he remains buoyant and optimistic for this year, despite acknowledging the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
Dainton has delivered a message, entitled A Year of Hope , to table tennis fans to outline the ITTF’s hopes and dreams for 2021.
He admits there is still a long way to go in the fight against COVID-19 and does not believe the world will be moving freely until later this year.
But Dainton is adamant the ITTF remains resolute in the face of adversity and is determined to continue its pathway towards professionalisation and put on events in 2021.

World Table Tennis (WTT) has accused the Hong Kong Table Tennis Association (HKTTA) of using COVID as an excuse for its decision not to compete in two upcoming events in Doha.
In a joint statement, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and WTT, its commercial arm, expressed disappointment at Hong Kong’s withdrawal from next month’s WTT Middle East hub over player safety concerns.
A WTT Contender event is scheduled to be held from March 3 to 6, followed by the WTT Star Contender tournament from March 8 to 13.
