Hampshire criminals jailed in April, 2021 PAEDOPHILES, drug dealers, and violent thugs passed through the courts of Hampshire in April. Here we round up some of those cases:
Man spat at and punched transgender woman in the head Neil Junior Cleal punched and spat at a transgender woman outside her home in Southampton. The 25-year-old shouted abuse at the woman in her 50s. He spat in her face before punching her to the head. He was jailed at Southampton Magistrates Court.
1/1 A CONVICTED drink driver smashed his car into the front of a family home in Southampton - just 24 hours after his motoring ban expired. Sal Chitulu careered into the semi detached house at the junction of Oswald Road and Victoria Road in an almighty smash causing damage to the kitchen, buckling the garage door and smashing the front steps. Dramatic CCTV footage shows the grey Vauxhall Zafira shoot straight into the garage door and brick wall in the middle of the night. A court has now heard that Chitulu was previously banned for drink driving in February 2019, and his ban only ended one day and 45 minutes before he ploughed into the front of a house.

Jami Lee Singh was jailed at Southampton Crown Court. A SOUTHAMPTON man has been jailed for 28 months for drug dealing offences. Jami Lee Singh caught with drugs during a stop and search in Proctor Close, Southampton. Officers then searched a property in Tatwin Crescent where they found a haul of heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis, with a total street value of £3,990. Appearing before Southampton Crown Court he was charged and pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and a single count of possessing a Class B.

Carly Buckingham-Smith A JURY is still considering its verdict in the case of a woman accused of perverting the course of justice. Carly Buckingham-Smith claims to be the victim of a harassment campaign. The 37-year-old told police she had received multiple calls from withheld numbers and a string of threatening messages. In one text a threat was made to “put petrol through her letterbox and set it alight”. During a trial at Southampton Crown Court, a jury heard how police officers arrested her saying she had made “false complaints and was attention-seeking”. When interviewed about her “fictitious reports” of arson attacks and men banging on her door in the night, she made no comment, the jury heard.

A FORMER NHS employee stole a haul of electronic devices from a Southampton hospital. Gaven Vythelingum was branded mean and spiteful by a crown court judge for stealing from University Hospital Southampton. Prosecution barrister, Ellie Fargin told how the administration manager traded in the devices - which were worth thousands of pounds - at Cash Converter and Cash Generator stores, bagging himself a cut-price £1,853. Gaven Vythelingum outside Southampton Crown Court on April 28, 2021 During his time at the NHS, the 36-year-old - who had been working on a fixed-term contract, stole a projector, scanner, disk drive, six laptops, six iPads, and 12 dictaphones.
