City driver fined four-figure sum for not stopping at scene of crash

By Tom Orde Crime and court reporter Deserted Southampton streets during the coronavirus, March 25, 2020 A DRIVER who failed to stop at the scene of a crash must pay more than £1,000 in costs and fines. Ben Wilson was the driver of a Ford Fiesta involved in an accident which left a man injured. However, the 19-year-old of Pinegrove Road, Southampton, failed to stop. He was also charged with driving without due care and attention following the incident on November 12 last year in Millbrook Road West. Appearing before Southampton Magistrates Court, he pleaded guilty to both offences. His driving record was endorsed with five points and he was fined £1,000.

Woman who lost bus pass abused couple in city centre

By Tom Orde Crime and court reporter A general view of Above Bar Street, Southampton in December 2020 A SOUTHAMPTON woman hurled abuse and threatened a couple who refused to give her money. Lisa Amy Katie Dawkins became abusive and swore at a couple in Above Bar Street who had been having a night out. The 25-year-old claimed to have lost her bus pass and when the couple would not give her money she threatened to punch the woman and knock them both out, a court heard. Appearing before Southampton Magistrates’ Court, Dawkins was charged with two counts of common assault.

The prosecutor added: “Their attention was very much focused on the defendant’s friend.” Kujawski ran into a property and slammed the police dog in a door repeatedly. In the courts: Sherfield man accused of making gun

Basingstoke Magistrates Court. A man has appeared in court accused of manufacturing a gun. Alistair McGowan, of Reading Road in Sherfield-on-Loddon, was allegedly found in possession of the firearm on Sunday, April 25, and it is claimed by police that he intended to sell it. The 47-year-old has been remanded in custody pending his next hearing at Winchester Crown Court. No plea has been entered to either charge. A Popley man has been given a suspended prison sentence after he drove twice whilst disqualified during lockdown. Keith Dorey, also known as Keith Shrubshall, was caught driving a Jaguar X-Type on the A33 on April 11, 2020, and a Vauxhall Frontera on July 26 of the same year on the A30 in Hook.

Two charged in connection with Southampton Guildhall Square knife fight

James Stevenson-Mackie, aged 18, of James Weld Close, Southampton has been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place and affray. A 17-year-old boy from Southampton who cannot be named for legal reasons has also been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place and affray. It comes after police were alerted to reports of around three people fighting in Guildhall Square armed with knives. However, no one was injured following the confrontation at around 4.30pm on Thursday, April 29.
