Southampton man fined for growing cannabis

A SOUTHAMPTON man has been fined after he was found growing cannabis. Kurtis Wade Batty, 36, was caught growing three cannabis plants in Southampton on September 14 last year. Appearing at Southampton Magistrates Court, he pleaded guilty to the offence. Batty, of Vaudrey Close, Southampton, he was fined £100 and the plants were seized under section 27 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and destroyed. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and court costs of £45. The legal limit is just 35mgs meaning she was almost two and a half times the limit during the incident on June 14 this year. Appearing before Southampton Magistrates Court, she was charged with a single count of drink driving - she previously pleaded guilty. Marc Schisan, 36, was caught carrying a kitchen knife at Southampton Central Railway Station on June 4. Appearing at Southampton Magistrates Court, he pleaded guilty to possession of a blade in a public place. Schisan, of Vinneys Close, Brockenhurst, was committed to prison for 18 weeks suspended for 18 months He was placed on electronic curfew for eight weeks banning him from leaving his address between 7pm and 7am. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £128 and court costs of £85.

A SOUTHAMPTON woman has been fined hundreds of pounds after her dog worried pigs in the New Forest. Kathleen Brady appeared at Southampton Magistrates Court after her dog worried pigs on farm land in Ashurst on November 5 last year. She pleaded guilty to being the owner of a dog which worried livestock. Brady, of Reynolds Road, Southampton, was fined £300 and ordered to pay £200 compensation. She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85. Hythe drink driver who failed to stop for police banned from roads

A DRINK driver who failed to stop for police has been banned from the roads. Ryan McIlwraith failed to stop for police on Bottom Road, Dibden on June 27, while driving a Ford Focus ST. The 24-year-old was found to 61 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. Appearing at Southampton Magistrates Court, he pleaded guilty to one count of drink driving and one count of failing to stop for police. McIlwraith, of Beech Crescent, Hythe, was disqualified from driving for 17 months and was fined £1,000. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £100 and court costs of £85.
