12-year-old injured in fall from bicycle

A 12-year-old child reportedly suffered major head trauma when he fell off his bike near Lompoc on Monday.
It happened at about 3:45 p.m. in the area of Burton Mesa Rd. and Calle Quarta in Mission Hills.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the child was not wearing a helmet when he fell and suffered significant head injuries.
He was taken by ground ambulance to Lompoc Valley Medical Center and then flown by helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

A kitchen is destroyed after a fire broke out inside a Solvang home.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department, firefighters responded to a structure fire around 5 p.m. near Kronberg Dr. and Elsinore Dr.
Four engine companies and a battalion chief responded to the fire and found a fire in the kitchen that started to burn the exterior of the home.
Authorities said all people evacuated the home before firefighters arrived which allowed crews to make a quick and aggressive fire attack.

Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to several spot fires along Highway 101 in Los Alamos.
Fire officials said the fires were reported around 5:45 p.m. near Palmer Rd.
About two to three acres of vegetation burned in the center divider of the freeway.
All lanes are open after the number one lanes of north and southbound directions were temporarily closed for safety.
The cause of the fires are under investigation.

One person with major injuries had to be extricated from the wreckage of a two-vehicle collision Saturday afternoon on Highway 246 between Lompoc and Buellton.
Shortly after 4 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol and American Medical Response were dispatched to the scene of the crash on Highway 246 near Campbell Road, according to county fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli.
