Victorville Daily Press The nation’s top infectious disease expert doesn’t want the Super Bowl to turn into a super spreader, and local authorities announced extra patrol on roadways to stop impaired motorists.  Dr. Anthony Fauci, said Wednesday that when it comes to Super Bowl parties during the pandemic, people should “just lay low and cool it.”  During TV interviews, Fauci said now isn’t the time to invite people over for watch parties because they might be infected with COVID-19 and could sicken others. Big events like Sunday’s game in Tampa, Florida, between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are always a cause for concern over the potential for virus spread, Fauci said.

Authorities open investigation after Hesperia man found stabbed to death in home Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was stabbed to death in his Hesperia home last week. Deputies responded shortly after 10 p.m. Jan. 27 to a stabbing call at a home in the 17300 block of Manzanita Street, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday. Robert Robinson, 41, was found inside suffering from an “apparent stab wound.” He was pronounced dead at the home, authorities said. “Through investigation it was discovered Robinson was involved in a domestic disturbance when the stabbing occurred,” the sheriff’s department said.

Sheriff s Department announces open enrollment for tow companies

Victorville Daily Press Sheriff s officials announced Monday the open enrollment period for contracted towing services with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Local sheriff’s stations will accept towing provider applications from March 1 to 31 for the 2021-22 fiscal year. No late applications will be taken. Towing companies whose applications are accepted will undergo vehicle and facility inspections in May. Companies that pass both inspections will begin working with the Sheriff’s Department on July 1.  Online applications will be available during March at the Sheriff s Department s website at wp.sbcounty.gov/sheriff. Search under general information The online application can be found toward the back of the Tow Service Agreement (TSA). Applicants should refer to the TSA to answer questions regarding the agreement.

Corona man arrested at Hesperia hotel for alleged sex crimes with a minor Victorville Daily Press Authorities on Tuesday arrested Corona resident Darren Garcia, 31, at a hotel in Hesperia on suspicion of multiple sex crimes committed against a Victorville minor he met online. The San Bernardino County Sheriff s Victorville station reported Thursday that Deputy T. Kautz began an investigation on Jan. 13 into allegations of sexual abuse of a girl under the age of 18.  The victim’s mother told authorities she believed her daughter had been sexually assaulted between the time the girl left home without permission on Dec. 29 and when she returned the following day, the report said.
