Hesperia man hit Big Lots employee with car during robbery, authorities say Victorville Daily Press A man accused of hitting a store employee with his car while allegedly stealing merchandise was expected to appear in court Thursday. Kenneth Deshon Berry, 50, of Hesperia, faces potential charges of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Each charge carries sentencing enhancements for great bodily injury on a person, using a deadly weapon and committing a crime while bail or release, court records show. Berry was scheduled to be arraigned in Victorville Superior Court. Hearing information was not immediately available Thursday. Authorities said deputies responded to an assault Monday morning in the parking lot of the Big Lots in the 14700 block of La Paz Drive in Victorville.

Hikers from Downey High School Rescued from Mount Baldy

By City News Service Photo: Getty Images LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A dozen student-athletes and three coaches from Downey High School on a hiking trip on Mount Baldy in San Bernardino County had to be rescued by search-and-rescue teams, including two teens who were located this morning after spending the night on the mountain, authorities said. According to a statement released late this morning by the Downey Unified School District, the Downey High athletes and coaches took a group hike up Mount Baldy on Monday, and 10 of them were brought to safety on Monday evening, but two teens remained unaccounted for until this morning.

Illegal Fireworks Confirmed as the Cause of Death of 8-Year-Old in Colton

Jul 20, 2021 The cause of death for 8-year-old Urijah Roque who died in Colton on July 4th was confirmed on Monday by officials as being caused by an illegal firework. Urijah was struck in the chest by an illegal malfunctioning firework that was discharged from a mortar-style tube during an unofficial block party. The boy died at 11:25pm at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center on the 4th of July. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department did not learn of the child s death until much later, at which time there was no evidence of the illegal fireworks.
